Egypt takes on debutants Tanzania; Angola faces Mozambique in All-South clash as Group B kicks off
Group B of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on Tuesday at the Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, with a thrilling double-header that put Egypt against debutants Tanzania, while an All-South encounter gathers Angola and Mozambique.
Three-time champions Egypt are hoping for a positive start when they face Tanzania who are set to record their Futsal AFCON debut. The Pharaohs who share the record of most titles with Morocco having won the 1996, 2000, and 2004 titles are eager to reclaim their former glory after missing out on the podium, finishing fourth in the 2024 edition in Morocco.
Despite looking as the favorites with their massive experience and talent loaded squad, Egypt will face a tough Tanzanian side making a historic debut at the finals. The Taifa Stars secured their place through a hard-fought qualification and will look to cause another shock in the finals as they dream of going past the tough Group B.
All-Southern clash
Following the group opener, eyes will be on an all-Southern African heavyweight clash that puts Angola against neighbors Mozambique. A southern derby that sees last edition runner up Angola starting their campaign aiming to go as far as possible yet again as the “Palancas Negras” have the needed talents to do so yet again.
Meanwhile, Mozambique who appear in their fifth finals would aim high to at least imitate their runner up status in 2004 and third-place finish in 2016. Despite being drawn in a tough group, especially with the highly famed Egyptians and Angolans, the “Mambas” sting is something to beware.
The action is guaranteed as the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations continues to fulfill its promises.
