Gehad Arafa says there are no easy teams
Egypt coach Gehad Arafa says there are no easy teams in the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON despite the Pharaohs 10-3 mauling of debutants Namibia on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall.
The three-time champions faced a stubborn Namibia side in the first half of the Group B contest in the Moroccan capital.
"There are no easy teams now," said Arafa. "When you play to win championships, you have to respect every team and play to the best of your abilities.
"We were able to correct our mistakes and in the second half, we were concentrated and changed our style and it worked out well with a good result."
The Egyptians were twice pecked back by the Brave 5 before they regained their form in the second half.
"The result was very good for us but we didn't play well in the first half," said the former AFCON winner.
"Namibia are newcomers in the tournament and they don't play with tactics but in the first half we were not very good in our play and that made me angry.
Namibia coach Ryan Jago was disappointed with the outcome of the match after his side heroic first half performance.
"We are shell shocked at the moment and we are not going to say too much because we need time to reflect on our performance. We've all made mistakes myself, the players we crumbled in the second half unfortunately," he said.
"First half I thought we were the best team. We played unbelievably stocked to the game plan, could've been more clinical in front of and probably should have gone to half time winning.
"We matched the team that is ranked top 30 in the World but yet again in both games we performed well for one half and not for the second we needed to start to perform at that high level for 40 minutes. Unfortunately, it's a hard lesson to take."
