TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON: Injuries cost us the match – Egypt’s Alaa Eissa
Angola came from two goals down to beat three-time champions Egypt 4-2 and claim top spot in Group B of the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON.
Egypt captain Alaa Eissa said his team had aimed to win the group but was hit by setbacks. "Our objective was to finish first in the group, but several factors affected our campaign, including four injuries and a red card, which directly impacted our performance," he said.
"We were well prepared for the match. However, as I mentioned, having four injured players and receiving a red card is enough to make any team lose," the Egypt captain added.
Egypt will now face Morocco in the semi-finals. "Morocco are a strong team, and this will certainly feel like an early final. However, we will do everything possible to reach the actual final," the captain said. "Our objective is clear: we want to win."
The captain also paid tribute to the Egyptian fans. "We went to meet them, and I would like to thank them for giving us such positive energy. Their support means a lot to us and helps us tremendously."

Palancas Negras star Chico credited the team's togetherness. "It was a very tough match, but our group is united, and that is what enabled us to overcome our opponents," he said.
"The only thing we have to do is follow the principles and values that our culture teaches us. We came here to work hard and win every game we play."
Angola head coach Marcio Garcez said: "We are very happy to have won this match and finished top of the group. I would like to congratulate my players on today's performance." He added: "Now, we have to focus on our next match against Algeria.
“We will prepare thoroughly because our objective is to win and qualify for the final of the competition."
Asked if Angola had tried to avoid Morocco, the reigning champions, the coach said: "They are a very strong team, but we did not try to avoid Morocco. We simply want to have the opportunity to play a great final against them."
“He added that Morocco "won the last AFCON" and "have been preparing thoroughly for this competition."
The Brazilian said Angola would learn from the win but must respect Algeria. "Our main objective is to reach the final, regardless of who our opponent might be. We want to be in the final on Wednesday."
