TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON: Mozambique and Tanzania look to bounce back against Egypt and Angola
Mozambique and Tanzania will look to recover from their opening defeats when they face Egypt and Angola on Thursday, as action resumes in Group B of the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.
The Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat hosts the two all-important matches as Group B builds towards its final round of fixtures.
Mozambique suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Southern African neighbors Angola in the COSAFA derby. They dominated parts of the match but were let down by poor finishing.
“In the second half, we showed that we can actually play,” Narotam told CAFOnline. “We need to focus. We have to do better against Egypt if we want to think of reaching the next stage.”
Egypt opened their campaign with a thumping 8-0 win over Tanzania to top the group. They are chasing a record fourth continental crown after missing out on the final for the first time in the tournament’s history.
“We must win against Mozambique and Angola to finish top of Group B and play the second-placed team in Group A, and hopefully, we make it all the way to the final,” Pharaohs coach Nader said.
The day’s second fixture pits bottom side Tanzania against second-placed Angola, who impressed with their efficient 5-1 win over Mozambique. The Taifas are making their first-ever appearance at the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations.
Meanwhile, Angola are looking to another win that could pave their way to the semifinals. "Palancas Negras" finished as runner ups in 2024 and are looking for another feat in this year's edition.
