TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON: Our mission is done - Marcos Antunes
Angola coach Marcos Antunes says his mission is complete after securing a place in the final of theTotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON Morocco 2024.
The Sable Antelopes will face Morocco in the final on Sunday, 21 April at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall in Rabat at 21:00 GMT. Angola pulled a shock result in the semi-final to beat three-time champions Egypt 7-3 to qualify for the final and subsequently book a place in the FIFA Futsal World Cup set to take place in September this year.
"Our mission is done. Now we will enjoy the final and the party, that's what we worked for in this game," Antunes said.
"The players are motivated. We want to create difficulties for Morocco and play the same way and give a show to the people watching, that's our mission".
Sunday's final will be a repeat of the Group A clash between the two which Morocco won 5-2 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall.
"It's a final and finals are to be won but we know it will be a different game from the first one we played in the group stage. The two teams know each other more and I know it will be a great show," the Portuguese coach added.
"It's possible for us to win because it's a game but one thing we know is we will play against one of the best teams in the world. If you want to develop Futsal and the players, you would like to play these games. The organization of the tournament has been great and it has helped us perform because we have all things we need to prepare the team," the former Equatorial Guinea coach concluded.
Paulo Carvalho who made history as the first Sable Antelopes captain to qualify Angola to the final of the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON says the final will be different from their previous meeting.
"The match on Sunday will be different from the first match in the group stage as we know more about the Moroccan team and we have nothing to lose," the Angolan captain revealed.
"We will do our best to give the fans the best possible show for Futsal in the continent. We're prepared for the final against Morocco because we have performed really well in this tournament."
