TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON: Tanzania's journey starts now - Rambau

Tanzania ended their TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 4-0 defeat to Mozambique on Saturday night at the Salle Ibn Yassine in Rabat.

The debutants lost all three of their Group B matches, and the loss to the Mambas in their final group game left them without a point.

Jackson Rambau spoke to CAFOnline after the match. He took some positives from his own display but was disappointed with the team's exit.

"I'm happy that I've done well. But I'm not too happy, because we didn't get out of the group stage. It's the beginning of a journey, though. We're starting now, and we're sure that by next season or the next tournament, we'll have worked hard and will come back stronger."

Rambau admitted the gap to the continent's best is clear.

"The level of competition is very high. We have some issues to improve so we can perform well and reach that level.

"We should all work hard to improve our touches, how we defend and how we do transitions. I'm sure we're going to improve a lot to reach that level."

The player also looked beyond the pitch, pointing to the need for better infrastructure at home. Tanzania do not yet have a domestic futsal league.

"I'm sure our president and everyone at the federation watched the match. I think they're going to make improvements in terms of pitches and in preparing a league, because in Tanzania we don't even have a futsal league.

“We're trying to improve day by day personally, and we're sure the federation officials and everyone in Tanzania will look at that."
