Cabo Verde Head of State Dr Janira Hopffer Almada to join CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe at the opening of the CAF Strategy Conference on Thursday
Cabo Verde Head of State, Her Excellency Dr Janira Hopffer Almada will join CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and other global leaders at the Opening Session of the CAF Strategy Conference on Thursday, 8 October 2026, in Santa Maria, Sal Island.
The Opening Session will start at 09h00 local time (10h00 GMT, 13h00 Cairo Time and 12h00 CAT) and will be live on CAF TV (YouTube Page).
Cabo Verde, the African Nation that won hearts at the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada, are hosting the historic CAF Strategy Conference that will discuss a pathway for Africa’s Growth and Development on and off the field.
The CAF Strategy Conference will bring together Presidents of CAF’s 54 Member Associations, Zonal Union Presidents, CAF Executive Committee members, National Team Coaches, Technical leaders and leading international football experts.
For the first time in African football, the performances of the continent’s National Teams at a FIFA World Cup will form a central part of a dedicated CAF strategic gathering aimed at converting the lessons of the tournament into a roadmap towards the FIFA World Cup 2030.
A record 10 African countries participated at the FIFA World Cup 2026, with nine advancing to the knockout stages, giving the continent its strongest collective showing at the tournament.
The Opening Session – that will be open to media and public – will be followed by closed sessions including 54 Member Associations’ Strategy Meeting that will bring together CAF’s football leadership to discuss ways of strengthening Member Associations, improving football administration and creating sustainable structures capable of supporting long-term sporting success.
