Ahly are looking to claim a record-extending ninth African Super Cup trophy with much hope pinned on their Swiss coach Marcel Kolher.
The Egyptian giants have won the annual showpiece match between the TotalEnergies Champions League and TotalEnergies Confederation Cup holders a remarkable eight times.
They previously won the title in 2002, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2020 and 2021.
The victors of this single-leg final at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in Taif will be engraved on the glittering cup alongside greats of the African game.
Al Ahly currently holds the record for most Super Cup wins ahead of Egyptian rivals Zamalek on four titles and Congolese outfit TP Mazembe with three.
Moroccan trio of Wydad, RS Berkane and Maghreb Fes, Ivorian duo Africa Sport and ASEC, South African duo of Orlando Pirates and Sundowns have won the title once.
The other group of clubs to have won the African Super Cup once are Tunisia's Esperance and Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak.
USMA Alger will be seeking to join ES Setif as the second Algerian club to have won the title when they take on Ahly tonight.
But the Algerians will be no pushovers as they target a maiden Super Cup triumph to mark a famous night for the club.
The historic clashes between these North African rivals have been exceptionally close in recent times.
Al Ahly know they must be at their very best to turn the tide of history and lift the Super Cup once more.
