Egypt U-17 Boys crowned UNAF Champions in Algeria

The Egyptian U-17 Boys National Team are the new champions of the Union of North African Football (UNAF) after a 1-1 draw against Algeria concluded the weeklong competition that took place between 24 – 30 April in Algiers.
The round-robin tournament which included hosts Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia saw the Egyptians finish in first place from in a week of exciting youth football competition.
Second behind the tournament winners were the hosts Algeria with 6 points followed by Morocco in third on five points and Tunisia and Libya following in fourth and fifth respectively.
The final match of the competition was the decider with the winner guaranteed the title.
With Egypt needing just a point, Mohamed Hamza Adbel Karim found the opener in the 63rd minute before Ben Issa found the leveller minutes later for the spoils to be shared.
The tournament, which was attended by UNAF President, Gamal Allam falls within the framework of the FIFA Forward Programme
Executive Director of the North African Football Federation, Mahmoud El Hammami in his closing remarks said: “This was a truly successful competition that has been a great platform for youth and talent development. With the support of the Algerian Football Federation and its President, Walid Sadi, we want to thank CAF for their support in this competition as such competitions contribute greatly to youth football development in Africa”.
President of the Algerian Football Federation, Walid Sadi said: “Algeria is honoured to host such a successful competition. We thank all key stakeholders who played a part in the staging of a great tournament for young African footballers who will grow into African stars one day”, said Mr Said
