Tanzania have emerged as one of the stories of the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, reaching the semi-finals after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Algeria, won 4-3 on penalties.

The Serengeti Boys topped Group C with six points, recording two wins and one loss while scoring freely.

Their attacking style secured progression and a quarter-final berth.

Against Algeria, they produced a six-goal spectacle.

Trailing at times, Tanzania fought back to force extra time and then penalties, where they converted all their kicks while Algeria missed one.

This result confirmed their status as a major tournament surprise.

Dynamic winger Abel Josiah, commanding goalkeeper Abrahman Nassoro, and captain Kassim Juma have been central to their campaign, providing pace, solidity, and leadership.

Coach Elieneza  Nsanganzelu has instilled tactical discipline and belief, turning a developing side into knockout specialists.

His management has maximised the squad's potential.

Tanzania face Egypt in the opening semi-final on Thursday at Moulay El Hassan Stadium (kick-off 17:00 local time).

A win would represent a historic achievement for East African football and set up a dream final appearance.
