Morocco and Egypt secure spots in TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations

Morocco and Egypt have officially qualified for the next edition of the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, after finishing first and second, respectively, in the North African Football Union (UNAF) qualifiers.

Morocco Crowned UNAF U-20 Champions in Egypt

The Moroccan U-20 team emerged as champions of the North African Football Union (UNAF) qualifiers, held in Suez, Egypt, from November 14 to 26, 2024.

Egypt secured the runners-up position, with both teams earning automatic qualification for the continental finals.

The upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which features 12 nations, will also serve as a qualification tournament for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

 


Egypt Edges Tunisia; Algeria Thrashes Libya

On the final day of qualifiers, Egypt defeated Tunisia 1-0 at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia on Tuesday, November 26. Ahmed Khaled's 54th-minute strike sealed the win for the hosts, ensuring Egypt's second-place finish.

In the other match, Algeria dominated Libya with a resounding 4-0 victory. Goals from Lahou Kherib (75’ and 80’), Oussama Ben Attia (78’), and Mohamed Ramadawi (84’) secured the emphatic win for the "Desert Foxes."

Morocco, having already secured first place, was exempt from the final round of fixtures.




Final Standings

Morocco topped the qualifiers with 10 points, followed by Egypt with 7 points. Tunisia finished third with 6 points, Algeria came fourth with 5 points, and Libya finished last without earning a single point.
