TotalEnergies AFCON U-20: Tunisia draw inspiration from first round comeback

Young Carthage Eagles coach Adel Sellimi says Tunisia will draw inspiration from their group stage comeback when they face Congo in the quarter-finals of TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON on Friday.

The North African rallied back from their opening defeat against Gambia to secure second place in Group C with four points.

They held Benin to a goalless draw in Alexandria before beating Zambia 2-1 in Cairo to confirm their qualification.

"Tomorrow's match is very important for us," the experienced Sellimi said. "We went through many difficulties during the group stage but we managed to overcome them all."

"We hope to continue our journey and secure our place in the World Cup and reach the final.

"We prepared for the match both mentally and technically and we will also take advantage of the factors that help us such as the excellent playing field and the good climate."

Captain Mohamed Kechiche says the team is capable of qualifying and that everyone is striving to put in a good performance against Congo.

"I spoke to all the players and we agreed to go all out and secure qualification to the semi-finals," Kechiche said.

"We will fight to continue the journey and honor the flag and the shirt of our country."
