Burkina Faso returns to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s AFCON

Four years after their historic first appearance, the Burkina Faso Women’s Stallions will once again take part in Africa’s biggest women’s football competition.

Thanks to two clean victories over Togo (2–0 in the first leg and 1–0 in the return), the Burkinabè side has secured its ticket to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.

In the first leg in Ouagadougou, Pascal Sawadogo’s players did the job with composure and control.

In front of a large crowd at the Stade du 4-Août, the Women’s Stallions showed their intent early, taking command of the game from the start. After a first half filled with missed chances, it was Rihanatou Sawadogo who broke the deadlock with a powerful strike in the 65th minute, sending the stadium into celebration.

Late in the match, Adèle Kabré converted a penalty (89th minute) to seal a 2–0 victory — a crucial advantage before the trip to Lomé.

The return leg at the Stade de Kégué followed the same pattern. Solid in defense and efficient on the counterattack, Mouniratou Compaoré and her teammates managed their lead perfectly. The only goal of the match came around the hour mark, scored by Adama Kongo, securing a 1–0 win and confirming Burkina Faso’s qualification.
