Group D winners Cameroon face defending champions Nigeria in a TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 quarter-final at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday, 9 August. Kick-off is at 18h00 local time (17h00 GMT), with the winners advancing to the semi-finals and securing automatic qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

• Cameroon and Nigeria will meet at the WAFCON finals for the 14th time, making this the most-played fixture in the history of the competition.
• Cameroon and Nigeria have met at every stage of a WAFCON tournament, having previously clashed in the group stage, quarter-finals, semi-finals, third-place play-off and final.
• This will be their second quarter-final meeting, following Nigeria’s 1-0 victory in the last eight in 2022.
• Nigeria have dominated the previous 13 meetings, winning nine in open play and another two on penalties. Cameroon have one victory, while one other game ended in a draw without a shoot-out.
• Since the first centralised WAFCON finals in 1998, the teams have met at every edition both have participated in except 2002. Cameroon did not qualify for the 2024 edition.

CAMEROON

• Cameroon have reached the knockout rounds for the 12th time in 13 appearances at the centralised WAFCON finals. Their only group-stage elimination came in 2000.
• They have now progressed to the knockout rounds in each of their last 11 tournament appearances.
• Victory would send Cameroon to their 11th WAFCON semi-final. The only previous centralised finals at which they failed to reach the last four were in 2000 and 2022.
• This will be Cameroon’s 12th direct WAFCON knockout match excluding finals and third-place play-offs.
• They have won three of their previous 11 such matches, all semi-finals: 1-0 against Ghana in 2004, 2-1 against Côte d’Ivoire in 2014 and 1-0 against Ghana in 2016.
• This is Cameroon’s second WAFCON quarter-final. Their only previous appearance in the last eight ended in a 1-0 defeat to Nigeria in 2022.
• Cameroon have had three WAFCON matches decided in extra time. They lost 3-2 to Ghana in the 2002 semi-finals before beating the same opponents 1-0 after extra time in the 2004 semi-finals. They also defeated Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 after extra time in the 2014 semi-finals.

NIGERIA

• Victory would qualify Nigeria for the FIFA Women’s World Cup for a record-extending 10th time. They have appeared at every edition of the global finals since the inaugural tournament in 1991. 
• Should Nigeria fail to advance, it would be the first time they have not reached at least the semi-finals of a centralised WAFCON tournament.
• Nigeria are the only team to have reached the knockout stages at all 14 centralised WAFCON finals.
• The defending champions are targeting a 14th WAFCON semi-final appearance.
• Nigeria are appearing in their third WAFCON quarter-final and have won both of their previous last-eight encounters, against Cameroon in 2022 and Zambia at the previous edition.
• Ajibade scored the only goal as Nigeria defeated Cameroon 1-0 in 2022 to reach the semi-finals.
