MATCH STATS: Côte d’Ivoire face Algeria in TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Morocco 2026 quarter-final

Côte d’Ivoire and Algeria meet in a TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 quarter-final at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca on Saturday, 8 August. Kick-off is at 18h00 local time (17h00 GMT), with the winners advancing to the semi-finals and securing automatic qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

MATCH FACTS

• Côte d’Ivoire will play at the Moulay Rachid Stadium for the second time at the current tournament. They surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with South Africa at the venue in their second group match on 31 July.
• Côte d’Ivoire have played all their matches at the current finals in Casablanca. Their other two group games were staged at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, where they defeated Burkina Faso and Tanzania.
• Algeria played all three of their group-stage matches in Rabat.

• Côte d’Ivoire have progressed beyond the group stage for the second time in their third tournament appearance, having also done so in 2014.
• Their only group-stage elimination came on their tournament debut in 2012.
• They completed a WAFCON group stage undefeated for the first time.
• Côte d’Ivoire are unbeaten in their last four WAFCON matches, a run that began with a 1-0 victory over South Africa in the 2014 third-place play-off. Their record during this sequence is three wins and one draw.
• They conceded three goals in the group stage, the fewest they have conceded in a WAFCON group campaign. They let in seven goals in 2012 and six in 2014.
• Côte d’Ivoire scored eight group-stage goals, their most at a single edition. They scored seven in 2012 and six in 2014.
• Their highest total at a WAFCON is nine goals in 2014, meaning they are one goal away from equalling that tally.
• They finished a WAFCON group stage with a positive goal difference for the first time. They had a goal difference of zero in both 2012 and 2014. 
• This is the second time they have reached the knockout rounds. There was no quarter-final stage when they advanced from their group in 2014.

• Algeria won two group-stage matches at the same edition for the first time.

• Algeria have lost only one of their last seven WAFCON matches in open play, recording three wins and three draws. Their only defeat in that sequence was the 1-0 loss to Morocco in their second group match at the current edition.

• This is Algeria’s second appearance in the knockout rounds and their second in succession.
• Their only previous knockout match ended in a 0-0 draw against Ghana in the 2024 quarter-finals. Algeria lost the shoot-out 4-2, with Marine Dafeur and Inès Belloumou failing to convert their first and third penalties respectively.
