TotalEnergies CAF Women’s AFCON 2026: Algeria awarded Fair Play Prize
Algeria leave the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 with an additional honour. After securing the bronze medal following a historic campaign, Algeria were also awarded the Fair Play award, recognising their exemplary conduct throughout the competition.
The award recognises much more than the Algerian team’s sporting performances. It celebrates the players’ attitude, their respect for opponents and match officials, as well as their spirit both on and off the pitch.

Making their first appearance at this stage of the competition, the Algerians stood out for their commitment and discipline. From the group stage through to the third-place play-off, they consistently showed a determination to represent their country with pride while upholding the values that underpin African football.
The symbolism was particularly strong after the Maghreb derby against Morocco.
In a closely contested encounter that was decided on penalties, Algeria prevailed 1-1 (3-2 on penalties) to claim the bronze medal. Despite the stakes, both teams maintained an exemplary sporting spirit, in an atmosphere marked by respect and camaraderie.
The Fair Play Prize therefore caps a remarkable campaign for Algeria.
By reaching the semi-finals and then securing a place on the podium, Algeria wrote a new chapter in its history at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
