Ampem Darkoa - Huracanes: History beckons for both debutants

Both Ampem Darkoa and Huracanes are participating in the CAF Women’s Champions League for the very first time this season.
They face each other in a penultimate clash on Sunday evening at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly stadium in Korhogo to determine who will advance further in the competition.
Ampem Darkoa, the Ghanaian debutants who stunned defending champions, AS Far in their opening clash with a 2-1 victory are second in Group B, with just a point separating them from Mali’s AS Mande.
On the opposite end, Equatorial Guinea’s Huracanes are bottom of the table but could sneak into the last four should they get maximum points.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Huracanes coach, Sévérino Beseku Rondo said they have shown great courage in how they played and qualified for this tournament.
“Since the start of our tournament, we have shown courage. We faced Tout Puissant Mazembe from DR Congo, a team that has all the qualities to participate in this event. Against Ampem Darkoa, we will play as we know how and hope that the result goes our way”.
This is what the players had to say:
Dolores Hernàndez - Huracanes captain
“During our last talk, I told the girls that we have to start by believing again. If we believe in it, we can do it. We must first win this game mentally before getting onto the field”.
Abena Opoku Anoma - Ampem Darkoa defender
“Being in the semi-finals of this competition was our initial goal. For our last group match, we are going to give everything. We don't just want to be seen as the team that brought down the reigning champion in their first outing. We want more”.
