AS FAR edge holders TP Mazembe after dramatic penalty shootout victory

AS FAR booked their place in the final of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating defending champions TP Mazembe in a tense 0–0 encounter that was ultimately decided from the penalty spot on Tuesday.

The result not only sends the Moroccan giants through but also serves as fitting revenge for last season’s final, where Mazembe emerged victorious.

The match unfolded with the intensity expected from two of the competition’s favourite sides.

AS FAR enjoyed more of the ball, dictating tempo and probing patiently, while Mazembe remained compact, disciplined, and dangerous on the counter.

Despite the high stakes, clear chances were scarce, as both defensive lines were well-organised and goalkeepers reacted decisively when called upon.

The deadlock persisted through 90 minutes, sending the match to extra-time and the lottery of penalties.

The shootout unfolded with drama however with a nervy ending Zineb Erroudany sealed the victory with the decisive fourth penalty to give the former champions the victory that subsequently sends them through to the final.
