CAF Women’s Champions League: Ampem Darkoa edge Kawempe in late drama
Ampem Darkoa maintained their perfect start to the CAF Women’s Champions League with a second consecutive victory after defeating Kawempe Muslim Ladies 2-1 on Thursday at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, in their Matchday Two Group B encounter.
The Ghanaian side secured the win in the closing stages of a closely contested match.

Ampem Darkoa wasted little time in making their intentions clear. Nancy Amoh opened the scoring in the ninth minute to give the Ghanaian side an early advantage. Kawempe Muslim Ladies responded, however, gradually finding their rhythm before Shadia Nabirye restored parity for the Ugandan side in the 34th minute.
Both teams continued to search for a breakthrough but were unable to find a way past their opponents for much of the second half.

Just as the match appeared to be heading for a draw, Beline Nyarkoh struck in the 84th minute to hand Ampem Darkoa a decisive late winner and secure all three points.
The victory gives the Ghanaian side six points from their opening two matches and moves them closer to qualification for the semi-finals.
Kawempe, meanwhile, will need to respond in their remaining group-stage fixture to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
