CAF Women's Champions League - COSAFA qualifiers: Lichinga stun hosts

A stunning solo run by Célia Miguel in the 74th minute secured Desportiva de Lichinga their first victory in the COSAFA qualifying tournament for the CAF Women’s Champions League on Sunday.
The Mozambican side defeated the host club, Ascent Soccer Academy.
In the other group match, Gaborone United and Young Buffaloes played to a 1-1 draw. Tenanile Ngcamphalala opened the scoring for Young Buffaloes in the 24th minute before Yaone Modise equalized in the 74th minute.
Ascent’s Leticia Chinyamula came close to scoring in the 66th minute, but her goal was disallowed for offside.
With this result, UD Lichinga moves to the top of the group with four points, followed by Ascent Soccer Academy in second place with three points, Gaborone United in third with two points, and Young Buffaloes at the bottom with one point.
After a frustrating 0-0 draw in their opening match against UD Lichinga, Gaborone United (Botswana) fell behind to Young Buffaloes (Eswatini) before Yaone Modise equalized in the 74th minute.
On Tuesday, Young Buffaloes will face UD Lichinga at 12:00 PM, while Gaborone United Ladies from Botswana will take on Ascent Academy at 3:00 PM.
Tomorrow will be a crucial day for Group A.
Leaders Herentals Queens, with six points, will look to secure victory against the University of Western Cape at 3:00 PM, while FC Ongos will meet Green Buffaloes at 12:00 PM.
