Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and Buja Queens have secured their places in the CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA regional qualifiers semi-finals.

Led by captain Loza Abera, CBE defeated South Sudan's Yei Joint Stars 4-0 on Thursday to complete Group A with three wins and one draw.

Abera and Ariet Odong gave CBE a 2-0 half-time lead. Second half goals from Senayt Bogale Boyzo and Mesay Temesgen Tanga completed the rout.

"We now focus on facing Vihiga Queens in the semis after they beat us in 2021," said CBE coach Birhanu Gizaw Heye.

In the other Group A match, Buja Queens of Burundi edged Djibouti's FAD FC 2-1 to progress.

The first half finished 0-0 before Ruth Ingosi and Topister Situma grabbed second half goals for Buja either side of Nadia Nour's leveller.

Buja captain Asha Djafari said: "We're delighted to reach the semis but must prepare well for the big match against JKT Queens."

The semi-final line-up is now complete with Tanzania's JKT Queens facing Buja Queens and Vihiga Queens of Kenya taking on CBE.

The regional final on 30th August will determine who represents CECAFA at November's inaugural CAF Women's Champions League in Ivory Coast.

CBE and Buja Queens have showcased their quality to clinch semi-final spots, edging closer to African glory.

But tougher tests await, with only one team able to qualify for the continental finals and make further history.
