FUS Rabat and Lekié FF share points in goalless CAF Women's Champions League opener

Morocco's FUS Rabat and Cameroon's Lekié Football Filles played out a goalless draw in the opening match of the CAF Women's Champions League Egypt 2026 on Sunday, leaving both clubs searching for their first victory in Group A.

The two debutants could not find a breakthrough at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, with the 0-0 result giving each side a point in their first appearance at the continental finals.

FUS entered the match with an impressive attacking record, having scored 14 goals in three qualifying victories, but were unable to reproduce that form against their Cameroonian opponents.

Lekié, who started the match with experienced Cameroon international Ajara Nchout Njoya, secured a point on their debut despite the Moroccan side's attacking credentials.

Disciplined defences keep scores level

Neither team managed to break the deadlock during a first half that ended without a goal.

Lekié's Orline Djutchie received the first yellow card in the 31st minute, before FUS midfielder Maryame Atiq was booked four minutes later.

The second half also failed to produce a breakthrough as both coaches made substitutions in search of a decisive goal.

FUS made changes in the 55th, 66th and 80th minutes, while Lekié introduced fresh players in the 70th and 85th minutes.

Lekié's Nicole Ndjock was also cautioned in the 78th minute.

Both teams remain in contention

The result represents a frustrating opening for FUS coach Mehdi El Qaichouri, whose side had demonstrated their attacking strength during the North African qualifiers.

For Lekié coach Stéphane Ndzana, the draw provides a foundation on which to build as his team seek to make an impact in their maiden continental campaign.

Both clubs remain firmly in contention for a semi-final place, with further Group A fixtures against Egyptian hosts FC Masar and South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns to come.

The top two teams in the group will advance to the knockout stage.
