JKT Queens and CBE FC reach CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA qualifier final
The CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA regional qualifiers will have its final showdown on Wednesday after JKT Queens of Tanzania and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia booked their spot in the decider.
In Sunday's first semi-final, JKT Queens defeated Burundi's Buja Queens 3-1 to continue their perfect record at the tournament in Uganda.
Buja had led through Topister Situma's early goal before Donisia Daniel Minja equalised for JKT after the break.
Stuamai Abdullah Athumani then curled in a brilliant shot on 78 minutes to put the Tanzanian side ahead. Youngster Winifirida Gerald wrapped up the win deep in added time.
"I'm happy we've won all four games so far and are now in the final," said delighted JKT coach Esther Fredy Chaburuma.
In the second semi, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia came from behind to beat Vihiga Queens of Kenya 2-1 after extra time.
Loza Abera grabbed a last gasp equaliser to force an additional 30 minutes before Aregash Kalsa Tadesse's long-range strike won it for the Ethiopians.
It will be Commercial Bank's second straight final after losing to Vihiga last year.
"This was a very tough match but I'm glad we won," said coach Birhanu Gizaw Heye.
The regional champions on Wednesday will qualify for November's inaugural CAF Women's Champions League finals in Ivory Coast.
Both JKT Queens and Commercial Bank will be eager to claim the CECAFA trophy and represent the region on the big stage.
