Published:

Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa face Moroccan defending champions AS FAR in their final Group B match at the CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2026 at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia on Sunday, 8 November (14h00 local time / 12h00 GMT). Both clubs are aiming to reach the semi-finals.

Ampem Darkoa lead the group with six points after beating USFAS Bamako 5-1 and Kawempe Muslim Ladies 2-1. AS FAR have three points, having recovered from a 3-2 defeat to Kawempe with a 6-0 victory over USFAS. A draw would guarantee Ampem top spot; AS FAR will advance with a win if Kawempe do not win their final match.

MATCH FACTS

•  This will be the third meeting between Ampem Darkoa and AS FAR at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals, after two encounters in 2023. AS FAR were the defending champions when the clubs first met and are the holders again in 2026.

•  Ampem Darkoa came from behind to win 2-1 in their first meeting, in the 2023 group stage. Najat Badri gave AS FAR a 14th-minute lead, Comfort Yeboah equalised in the 57th minute and a Nouhaila Benzina own goal in the 61st minute settled the match.

•  AS FAR won the third-place play-off in 2023 by 2-0, with Mafia Nyame scoring in the 33rd minute and Ghizlane Chebbak adding the second in first-half added time (45+2’).

•  Ampem Darkoa have played Moroccan teams three times at the finals, all in 2023: a win and a defeat against AS FAR and a 2-2 semi-final draw against SC Casablanca, which they lost 3-2 on penalties.

•  Ampem have scored four goals and conceded five in those three matches against Moroccan clubs, failing to keep a clean sheet in any of them.

•  AS FAR’s record against Ghanaian teams at the finals is P3 W1 D0 L2, with four goals scored and four conceded.

•  Besides their two encounters with Ampem, AS FAR lost 2-1 to Hasaacas Ladies in the 2021 semi-finals.

•  Both AS FAR defeats to Ghanaian opposition have been by 2-1 scorelines, while their victory was by 2-0.

•  Ampem have faced AS FAR more often at the finals than any other opponent.

•  AS FAR have also met Mamelodi Sundowns three times (W1 D1 L1) and TP Mazembe three times (W1 D1 L1) at the finals.

•  Another Ampem victory would make them the first club to defeat AS FAR twice at the finals.

•  Ampem will finish as Group B winners if they win or draw. If AS FAR win and Kawempe fail to win, AS FAR and Ampem will take the two qualifying places.

•  If both AS FAR and Kawempe win, Ampem, AS FAR and Kawempe will finish level on six points, and the three-way head-to-head tiebreakers will determine the two semi-finalists.

AMPEM DARKOA – KEY STATISTICS

•  Ampem have won their first two matches: 5-1 against USFAS Bamako on Matchday 1 and 2-1 against Kawempe Muslim Ladies on Matchday 2.

•  They are the second Ghanaian side to win their opening two matches at the finals, after Hasaacas Ladies in 2021.

•  Avoiding defeat would make Ampem the second Ghanaian club to complete a group stage unbeaten. Hasaacas Ladies won their first two matches and drew their third in 2021.

•  Victory would make Ampem the first club from Ghana or the wider West African region to win all three of their group matches at one edition.

•  This is the first time Ampem have won consecutive matches at the finals. In 2023 they won their opener, lost their second group game and won their third.

•  Ghanaian teams have topped their groups at each of their previous two finals appearances: Hasaacas Ladies in 2021 and Ampem in 2023.

•  If Ampem top Group B, they will be the first club to finish first twice in a group containing AS FAR.

•  Ampem have conceded in all seven of their previous matches at the finals and have yet to record a clean sheet.

•  All seven Ampem matches at the finals have produced goals.

•  Ampem have won twice in 2026, matching their two group-stage victories in 2023. They have not previously won three matches at a single edition.

•  Beline Nyarkoh and Nancy Amoh have each scored in both opening matches, the first time Ampem players have scored in successive games at the finals.

•  Nyarkoh and Amoh are the second and third players to score in successive matches at the finals for a Ghanaian club, after Hasaacas Ladies’ Evelyn Badu in 2021.

•  Either player would become the first to score in all three group matches for a Ghanaian club if she finds the net again. Badu scored in three matches overall in 2021, but not all three group games.

•  Ampem attempted 387 passes against Kawempe, completing 217, a completion rate of approximately 56%.

•  They attempted 104 passes into the final third against Kawempe and completed 45.

•  Their only previous final group match was a 3-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea’s Huracanes in 2023.

•  Ampem have scored seven goals in their opening two matches in 2026, equalling their total from five matches in 2023.

AS FAR – KEY STATISTICS

•  AS FAR recorded the biggest victory of the 2026 finals to date with their 6-0 win over USFAS Bamako on Matchday 2.

•  It was the second time AS FAR have recovered from an opening defeat at the finals. In 2023, they lost 2-1 to Ampem but won their remaining two group games.

•  AS FAR have reached at least the semi-finals in each of their five previous appearances and have never been eliminated in the group stage.

•  Elimination would make AS FAR the second defending champions to exit in the group stage, after Mamelodi Sundowns in 2024.

•  Qualification would take AS FAR into a record sixth semi-final at the competition.

•  Defeat would leave AS FAR with two group-stage losses at the same edition for the first time.

•  Doha El Madani scored against USFAS to take her tally to eight finals goals, an AS FAR club record.

•  El Madani has scored in AS FAR’s opening two matches at the finals for the second time, having also done so in 2024.

•  She scored six goals in 2024, all in the club’s first four matches.

•  El Madani has scored against six different clubs in six finals matches; AS FAR won five of those games and lost one.

•  Fatima Zahra Tagnaout scored against USFAS to take her tally at the finals to seven goals.

•  Tagnaout also provided the assist for Nouhaila Benzina’s opening goal against USFAS.

•  Tagnaout has three goal involvements in 2026: two goals and one assist.

•  Imane Touriss contributed two goals and an assist against USFAS. The brace was her first goals at the finals.

•  Benzina scored her first goal at the finals in her 21st appearance in the competition.

•  AS FAR converted all six of their shots on target against USFAS.

•  AS FAR attempted 566 passes against USFAS, completing 479, a completion rate of approximately 85%.

•  AS FAR are unbeaten in their previous five final group matches: victories in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, and a 0-0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in 2021.

•  The victory over USFAS was AS FAR’s 12th group-stage win in 17 matches at the finals (W12 D2 L3), more wins than any other club.

•  They have won at least two group games in every edition except 2021, when their record was W1 D1 L1.

•  AS FAR have always followed a group-stage defeat with a win in their next group match.

•  They have scored eight goals in their first two matches in 2026, their highest total after two games and equal to their previous best for an entire group stage, achieved in 2024.

•  No team had previously scored eight goals in its opening two matches at a single edition of the finals.

•  Mamelodi Sundowns hold the record for most goals in a three-match group stage, scoring 11 in 2022.
