MATCH STATS: ASEC Mimosas, FC Masar push for final place at CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2025

Published:

ASEC Mimosas will face home club FC Masar in the second semi-final of the CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2025 on Tuesday (19h00 local time / 17h00 GMT) as they seek a place in the deciding match and move within touching distance of the trophy.

ASEC meet North African opposition for the first time. Masar face West African opponents for the fourth time; all previous meetings have ended in draws.

Masar played Edo Queens twice at the 2024 edition, with both matches finishing 0-0 — one in the group stage and the other in the third-place play-off, which Masar won on penalties.

At this year’s tournament, Masar have already met West African opposition and drew 1-1 with USFAS Bamako in their final group match.

The winner will become the sixth different team to reach the CAF Women’s Champions League final, and the first finalist from their country.

If ASEC win, they will become only the second West African side to reach the final after Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies in 2021.

If Masar win, they will become the third North African finalist after AS FAR and SC Casablanca.

ASEC are the fifth West African club to reach the semi-finals; the previous three (Bayelsa Queens in 2022, Ampem Darkoa in 2023, Edo Queens in 2024) all lost at this stage.

Hasaacas Ladies in 2021 remain the only West African side to win a semi-final, beating AS FAR 2-1.
Bayelsa Queens were the only West African team to fail to score in a semi-final when they lost 1-0 to AS FAR in 2022.

On two occasions, West African teams have taken the lead in semi-finals and still lost: Ampem Darkoa drew 2-2 with SC Casablanca in 2023 before losing on penalties, and Edo Queens were beaten 3-1 after extra time by TP Mazembe in 2024.

North African teams have won three of their four semi-finals: AS FAR in 2022 and 2024, SC Casablanca in 2023. AS FAR lost their semi-final in 2023.

The only North African semi-final decided on penalties was SC Casablanca’s shoot-out win over Ampem Darkoa in 2023.
