Rivers Angels v Vihiga Queens – A chance to fight for

Nigeria’s Rivers Angels hope to rebound from their back-to-back defeats when they face Kenya’s Vihiga Queens at 30 June Stadium on Friday, as Group B of the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League, Egypt 2021 reaches its final day.
Vihiga Queens need a win that could see them through to the semifinals, while Rivers Angels are having what seems to be the slimmest of hopes to find themselves through depending on the result of the simultaneous kickoff result between Mamelodi Sundowns and ASFAR.

Time: 16:00 Cairo time (14:00 GMT)
Venue: 30 June Stadium, Cairo
Match: Rivers Angels (Nigeria) v Vihiga Queens (Kenya)
Rivers Angels – Mission Impossible
The Nigerians came to Cairo with high hopes of extending their national team continental dominance to the club competitions. But they were shocked by two defeats in as many games against ASFAR (3-0) and Mamelodi Sundowns (1-0) to trail the group pointless.
Now they will go to their final group game needing a win as they track their slim qualification hopes, or at least not to go back home without a point or even a goal.
What they said
“The defeats broke my heart. We did not come here for that, but we will play with all what we got in the last game,” Edwin Okon, Coach.
Vihiga Queens – Another win to go
After losing their opening game to Mamelodi Sundowns, the Kenyans shocked their Moroccan counterparts ASFAR 2-0 to revive their qualification hopes and give themselves a fight against Rivers Angels.
Tereza Engesha heroics led Vihiga Queens to a remarkable win in matchday 2, and she will need another spirited performance as the “Queens of the East” are eyeing a historical semifinal qualification.
What they said
“Our next match is very important for us to win as we want to be in the semi-final,” Charles Okere, Coach.
