TP Mazembe making a return to the CAF Women’s Champions League

For the second time in their history, Congolese women’s football club, TP Mazembe are preparing to compete in their second CAF Women’s Champions League.

Following their debut in the 2022 edition, Mazembe are looking at making a strong return when the competition gets underway between 09 – 23 November in Morocco.


How the team qualified

Mazembe dominated the UNIFFAC qualifiers with a series of remarkable performances. Under the tutelage of coach Lamia Boumehdi, the Congolese side won two encounters and drew their third to amass 7 points.

Their first victory was a resounding 7-0 win over CSM Diables Noires du Congo, followed by a 4-0 victory over Atlético Malabo of Equatorial Guinea. In the last match, they drew 1-1 against Lekie Football Filles du Cameroun to secure their place in Morocco with a goal difference of +11.


Key Player: Esther Diskisa

Among the leading players of TP Mazembe, Esther Diskisa has established herself as the top scorer of the tournament with a total of 4 goals.

A formidable attacker and leader on the field, Diskisa was key in the team's offensive prowess. Her speed and knack of goals were crucial in the team’s clinical showing at the qualifiers.


The coach: Lamia Boumehdi

Lamia Boumehdi, the talented and experienced coach, was able to instill a winning culture in the team. With a structured style of play focussed on strong team cohesion, Boumehdi was able to get the best out of his players.

Under his leadership, TP Mazembe has not only qualified but also positioned itself as a formidable team on the continent, ready to take up the challenge at the CAF Women's Champions League.
