Title holders TP Mazembe power past JKT Queens to seal last four place

Defending champions TP Mazembe booked their passage to the semi-finals of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League with a clinical 4–1 win over Tanzania’s JKT Queens on the final day in Group B on Saturday.

JKT struck first through Stumai Athumani on 12 minutes, but Mazembe’s response was swift and ruthless.

Marlene Yav Kasaj equalised from the spot on 23 minutes before Nigeria international Oluwayemis Samuel turned the game on its head with a neat finish six minutes later.

On the stroke of half-time, Ghana’s Grace Acheampong swept in a third (45+3’) to give the champions full control.

Mazembe managed the second half intelligently and closed the contest when Yav Kasaj converted a second penalty to complete her brace and cap a dominant display.

JKT pressed for a route back but could not unsettle a disciplined Congolese back line.

The result lifts Mazembe to six points and second place in Group B, sending them into the semi-finals behind section winners ASEC Mimosas (seven points), who defeated Gaborone United 4–0 in the day’s other fixture.

JKT Queens finish third on two points, with Gaborone fourth.

The victory continues Mazembe’s strong record against tournament debutants and ensures the holders remain in contention to defend their crown when the knock-out phase begins next week.
