Weam Mostafa: “A good photo is one that brings out a feeling”
It is in 2019 that everything really begins for this young woman of 28 years old. His native Egypt hosted the then TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations. Accredited for the event, Weam Mostafa is living her dreams at the highest level.
“I have been a professional photographer since 2013. But the AFCON in Egypt marked my debut in the world of sport and football in particular. Just before the competition, I saved enough money to buy my own equipment, I was so motivated," she said.
Armed with her Canon 5D, Weam captures photos that are as beautiful as each other. She covers sporting events in her home country and whenever she gets the chance, she's there, ready to capture new shots.
“I was so honored that CAF chose me, I did not think it possible to be part of the history of this competition so dear to me”.

Among the official photographers of the very first edition of the Women's Champions League, which takes place in the land of the Pharaohs, she now has a string of tournaments, both men's and women's.
“The good photo is the one that speaks to us, that touches us. Indeed, technically, you need good light, to be well positioned. But, you can have the most beautiful light in the world if your photo does not leave something to feel, it is not worth much."
Her passion for football, she owes it to her late father, a loyal supporter of Al-Ahly.
“Football runs through my veins. Working in this field is in a way, my way of paying homage to him and honoring my heritage.”

Encouraged by her family, Weam knew very early that she wanted to become a photographer. Barely enrolled at Cairo University, where she began studying communication, her mother, aware of her daughter's passion and talent, encouraged her on her path.
“That moment marked the beginning of my dream,” she admits.
Weam Mostafa is an example for the young women on the continent, the one who does not abdicate. The one who goes beyond cultural and social barriers to flourish. She climbs with determination and a certain class, the stages of her professional life.
“My next goal: to cover a World Cup. I would like to tell one or young people who will read this article to do everything to achieve their dreams. Never give up. Because the day you realize it, you will be so satisfied, and no one can take that feeling away from you.”
Smiling, hand in heart, Mostafa concluded the interview, going to do what she does best, taking pictures of the Stade Moulay Hassan which is preparing to host a new match of the CAF Women's Champions League.
