Morocco Thrash Namibia 8-1 in Commanding Start to Women’s Futsal AFCON

Morocco made a powerful statement in the opening match of their home tournament, the inaugural Women’s Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, with a dominant 8-1 victory over Namibia at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat on Tuesday night.
Fuelled by home support and relentless attacking intent, the Lionesses of the Atlas delivered a clinical performance that confirmed their status as early favourites in Group A and the wider competition, which serves as a qualifier for the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, to be held in the Philippines this November.
It took just minutes for Morocco to find their rhythm, with Malak Zaid Elkilani opening the scoring and setting the tone for what became an offensive onslaught.
The home side were ruthless in transition and precise in execution, leaving Namibia unable to match their pace or technical control.
By half-time, Morocco had raced to a 5-0 lead, with goals from Doha El Madani, Soumia Hady, Amal El Aoufi, and Siham Tadlaoui Maaloum adding to Elkilani’s opener. The hosts played with fluency and authority, overwhelming Namibia at every turn.
The second half followed the same script. Drissia Korrych and Jasmine Demraoui—who added two goals of her own—ensured Morocco kept their foot on the pedal, while Namibia managed a late consolation that did little to change the narrative of complete Moroccan dominance.
With this emphatic win, coach Adil Sayeh’s team have not only delighted local fans but also positioned themselves as serious contenders for the continental crown.
Morocco return to action on Thursday at 20:00 local time, when they face Cameroon in what is expected to be a much tighter contest. But with momentum firmly on their side, the hosts will approach that encounter brimming with confidence.
