Tanzania Advance to Women’s Futsal AFCON Semi-Finals With Convincing Win Over Senegal

Tanzania booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Futsal Cup of Nations after a commanding 3-1 victory over Senegal on Saturday in a decisive Group C clash at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

Following an impressive win in their opening game, the Tanzanian side confirmed their growing reputation on the continental stage with a display marked by defensive discipline, rapid transitions, and clinical finishing.

Senegal, under pressure after their 5-5 draw with Madagascar, struggled to keep pace with Tanzania’s tempo and organisation. Despite moments of promise led by standout performer Ndèye Kane, the Lionesses found themselves overpowered and unable to mount a sustained challenge.

Tanzania struck early and controlled the rhythm of the game throughout. Their pressing game and tactical sharpness forced Senegal onto the back foot and limited their attacking options. By the time the West Africans found their footing, the match had already slipped away.

Senegal managed to pull one goal back late in the second half, but by then the damage was done. The result saw Tanzania top Group C with six points from two matches, securing a well-deserved spot in the semi-finals.

It marks another significant step forward for the East African side, who continue to rise in stature in African women’s futsal after years of investment and steady progress.

For Senegal, the tournament ends in bitter disappointment. The team will be left to rue missed opportunities—particularly in their opening match against Madagascar, where they allowed a potential victory to slip away in the final moments.
