Striker Juliet Nalukenge was the star for the Uganda Crested Cranes scoring five goals in the 13-0 win over Djibouti in a Group B game tie of the Cecafa Senior Women’s Championship. Nalukenge netted four goals in the first half before adding the fifth at the Chamazi Stadium in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.

Hasifah Nasuuna and Fazila Ikwaput also bagged a brace each for the Uganda team, while Fauzia Najjemba and Amina Nababi scored one goal each.

“I am happy that I have scored five goals today that have helped my team pick a big win. We shall keep working hard in the tournament because our target is to win the trophy,” said Nalukenge.

Djibouti’s coach M’Barek Sarah said it was not easy for her teams since it was the first time they play in a regional tournament. “But slowly we shall gain experience,” added the coach.

Uganda now lead Group B with a better goal difference than Kenya who beat Ethiopia 2-0 in an earlier match.

The regional tournament started on Saturday with Burundi humbling Zanzibar 5-0 before defending champions Tanzania thumped debut making South Sudan 9-0.
