South Sudan appoints Shilene Booysen new Women’s coach

The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has appointed Shilene Booysen the new head coach of the senior women’s national team, Bright Starlets.

Booysen who holds a CAF A License was recently the Performance Analyst for South Africa's team at the 2020 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

“We are happy to have Booysen as a new head coach to help us develop the national women’s team,” said the SSFA President, Francis Amin Michael,

South African Booysenn was announced as the new coach on Wednesday on a two-year contract. She has also worked in the National Women’s Soccer League in South Africa as an Assistant Coach with the Houston Dash.

“This is exactly where I want to be, this is exactly what I want to do, and I want to be a part of something bigger and for me South Sudan football and the Federation plans represents something bigger,” said Booysen.

Amin made it clear that bringing a national coach for the women’s team means they want to give women’s football a lot of attention as well. “We shall also have the National Women’s League starting on February 20th where the national coach will help to identify talent,” added Amin.

South Sudan’s men’s team is also handled by Cameroon’s Ashu Cyprian Besong.
