EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT – PRESIDENT’S OFFICE

Responsibilities:

To provide high-level executive, strategic and operational support to the CAF President, acting as a trusted and discreet extension of the President’s Office.

The role is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination of the President’s priorities, engagements, communications and institutional relationships, while supporting the smooth interface between the President’s Office, CAF leadership, the General Secretariat, Member Associations and key internal & external stakeholders.

The position operates in an international, politically sensitive and fast-paced environment and requires exceptional judgement, discretion, diplomacy, organisational ability and the capacity to manage complex and confidential matters with a high degree of autonomy.

Executive & Strategic Support

  • Act as the principal point of coordination for the President’s Office, managing a complex and constantly changing schedule of meetings, engagements, travel and commitments.
  • Ensure the President is fully prepared for high-level meetings, official engagements, Executive Committee sessions, congresses, and other institutional events, including the preparation of agendas, briefing materials, background notes, correspondence and talking points.
  • Prioritise and manage incoming requests and correspondence, maintaining an effective tracking and follow-up system to ensure timely responses, appropriate escalation and closure of outstanding matters.
  • Monitor key actions, decisions and commitments arising from meetings and ensure appropriate follow-up with relevant stakeholders.
  • Anticipate the President’s needs, proactively identify issues requiring attention and manage competing priorities with a high degree of autonomy and sound judgement.
  • Support the President in the preparation, coordination and follow-up of strategic initiatives, institutional priorities, high-level negotiations, official visits and international engagements.

Political, Institutional & Governance Coordination

  • Maintain effective and highly confidential working relationships with the CAF General Secretary, Vice-Presidents, Executive Committee members, Member Association Presidents and senior football officials across Africa.
  • Coordinate, as appropriate, with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the President in managing sensitive institutional and stakeholder relationships across diverse political, cultural and linguistic environments, always exercising strong political and diplomatic judgement.
  • Coordinate the workflow between the President’s Office, the General Secretariat and the administration, ensuring effective information flow, follow-up and communication.
  • Coordinate the President’s participation in Executive Committee, Standing Committee, General Assembly and other governance meetings, including calendars, agendas, briefing materials, logistics and follow-up.
  • Attend senior-level meetings as required, recording key decisions and action points and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Manage communications with Executive Committee members, Board members and other senior stakeholders regarding meetings, events, schedules and official engagements.

Communications, Protocol & Confidentiality

  • Draft, review and coordinate confidential correspondence, briefing notes, speeches, talking points and other communications for the President.
  • Coordinate with CAF Communications and other relevant teams on Presidential statements, public engagements and media-related matters where required.
  • Handle highly confidential political, institutional, commercial and personal information with absolute discretion and exercise sound judgement regarding the handling and sharing of sensitive information.
  • Represent the President’s Office with professionalism, maturity and discretion at all times.

International Travel & High-Level Events

  • Coordinate complex international travel arrangements for the President, including multi-country itineraries, meetings, protocol requirements and last-minute changes.
  • Prepare comprehensive travel briefing packs ahead of Presidential missions, including itineraries, meeting schedules, contact details, background information and relevant documentation, and coordinate post-travel expense reporting.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless Presidential engagements.
  • Provide support before, during and after major CAF, FIFA and international football Events & Tournaments.

Requirements (profile):

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Management, Communications, International Relations or a related discipline. A master’s degree in one of these fields or a related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Additional qualifications or studies in football administration or sports management (e.g. FIFA Master) would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience supporting a President, CEO, C-Suite executive, Vice-President, senior government official or equivalent high-level executive in a complex, international and/or diplomatic environment, with a demonstrable track record of operating with a high degree of discretion, autonomy and responsibility.
  • Experience within an international sports organisation, football governance environment, diplomatic institution, government or similarly politically sensitive organisation would be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in diplomatic or institutional protocol and the management and coordination of high-profile guests and senior stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken, is essential. Proficiency in Arabic would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent attention to detail while maintaining awareness of the wider strategic and institutional context.
  • Strong research, briefing and information-management capabilities, with the ability to synthesise complex information and present it clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to anticipate issues and proactively address potential challenges before they become problems.
  • Outstanding organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and last-minute changes.
  • Calm, composed, and effective under sustained pressure and in rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Highly adaptable, resilient and proactive, with the flexibility to respond to evolving priorities and demanding requirements.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently and work outside standard working hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
