Benin Head of State invites CAF President Dr Motsepe to Benin to discuss Football Development

Benin Head of State, His Excellence Patrice Guillaume Athanase Talon today extended an invitation to Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) President Dr Patrice Motsepe to visit Benin to discuss football development.

His Excellency Talon met CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba on the sidelines of the ‘World Cotton Day’ held in Cotonou, Benin hosted by the country and World Trade Organisation (“WTO”).

The event was organised by the WTO Secretariat in collaboration with the secretariats of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).

CAF and FIFA were invited to participate. FIFA was represented by Director of Member Associations in Africa, Gelson Fernandes 

Mosengo-Omba said: “I had the pleasure of being received by His Excellence Patrice Guillaume Athanase Talon together with the FIFA Delegation and also the Football Leadership in Benin. President Talon has extended an invitation to CAF President Dr Motsepe to visit Benin to discuss football development in Africa and also Benin. This is part of President Motsepe’s mission to build stronger relations between Football and Governments and to develop football infrastructure in Africa. African Heads of States are responding positively to the call by President Motsepe and we look forward to the interaction.”
