TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2027 CAF and PAMOJA Ministerial Kick-off meeting Media Statement
The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”), Sports Ministers from the Republic of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Uganda, Presidents of Member Associations from the three Nations, and Chairpersons of the Local Organising Committees (“LOC”) today held a high-level PAMOJA TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations “AFCON”2027 Kick-Off Meeting in Kampala, Uganda to reaffirm their shared commitment to the successful hosting and delivery of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF Acting General Secretary commended the three Host Nations on the progress made so far and and reaffirmed CAF’s full commitment to the successful hosting of the PAMOJA 2027 AFCON He emphasized the importance of coordination in planning, timely execution, disciplined delivery, and a unified regional approach towards hosting a successful continental tournament.
The three Host Nations expressed their appreciation to CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and the CAF team for its support, guidance, technical support, and confidence in the PAMOJA partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with CAF in delivering a successful and memorable TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027.
The three countries undertook a comprehensive review of progress with particular focus on infrastructure preparedness, hospitality, safety and security, media and broadcast readiness, movement of the fans and stakeholders, governance and finance.
On infrastructure preparedness, each country outlined progress made in the ongoing construction, rehabilitation, and modernization of stadiums, training grounds, transport networks, airports, accommodation facilities, and related support infrastructure across the three host nations. The Ministers reaffirmed their Governments’ commitment to ensure all facilities meet the required CAF Requirements within the agreed timelines and endorsed an accelerated delivery roadmap, with August 2026 identified as a key milestone review point for readiness progress.
On hospitality and visitor experience, the three countries committed to jointly position East Africa as a welcoming and competitive destination capable of delivering an exceptional fan experience. Emphasis was placed on hotel readiness, tourism, medical preparedness, security coordination, transport efficiency, and warm regional hospitality that reflects the spirit of PAMOJA. The tournament was also recognized as a catalyst for tourism, investment, trade and regional economic growth.
The meeting further deliberated on the governance structure of the PAMOJA Local Organising Committee and agreed on a coordination framework that guarantees efficiency, accountability, and seamless decision-making across the three countries. This structure shall comprise of representations from CAF, the three host Ministers, Presidents of the Member Associations and Chairpersons of the LOCs.
Recognizing the importance of ease of movement for fans, teams, officials, media, and investors, the three Ministers agreed to hold periodic consultative meetings to finalize and operationalize the proposed PAMOJA Visa Framework, intended to facilitate seamless travel across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania during the tournament period. The framework shall further consider special entry arrangements, visa exemptions, expedited clearances, and harmonized customs and immigration facilitation for participating teams, officials, accredited media, sponsors, suppliers, and tournament-related goods and equipment.
The Ministers further resolved to institutionalize regular high-level and technical meetingssupported by progress reporting mechanisms, to monitor delivery address emerging issues, and sustain momentum toward 2027.
Together, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda remain firmly on course to deliver a successful, memorable, and transformational 2027 Africa Cup of Nations under the banner of PAMOJA, a historic symbol of African unity, regional ambition and shared progress through football
