Home sides Etoile du Sahel, Pyramids and Raja started their 2020-21 Total CAF Confederation Cup campaign with victories on Wednesday.
Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel topped Group C, after defeating Senegal’s ASC Les Jaraaf 2-0 in Tunis.
Sousse based side dominated the entire encounter, but waited till after the break to score after missing numerous chances in the opening half.
Shortly after the hour mark, substitute Hamza Lahmar put Etoile ahead with a perfect free kick.
At the final minute, the hosts doubled their lead from the spot, with Lahmar completing his brace.
Etoile shared the top of Group C with compatriots CS Sfaxien who defeated Burkina Faso’s Salitas earlier on the day.
In Group D, last season’s finalists Pyramids wased past Zambia’s Nkana 3-0 in Cairo.
The Egyptians opened the scoring in the second minute thanks to Mahmoud Wadi after a corner.
Goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy's teammates doubled the lead seven minutes later through Islam Issa.
A clear domination of the Egyptians allowed them to add a third just before the final whistle through substitute Mohamed Farouk.
Pyramids topped group D ahead Morocco’s Raja, on goal difference.
The Green Eagles of Raja started their campaign with a narrow home win over Tanzania’s Namungo.
