African football is alive every weekend with exciting league action around the continent and our weekly round-up of league action highlights a selection of the most important results

KENYA
Gor Mahia might have lost their last Premier League game of the season on Sunday but still celebrated being crowned champions, finishing five points clear of second-placed AFC Leopards.
It was a 22nd league title for the club, who had former Ghana international CK Akonnor as their coach for the season.
They were beaten 1-0 by Nairobi United, for whom Enock Machaka put away a first-half header, at the Nyayo National Stadium, but it did nothing to quell the party mood.
“It’s always a great feeling to win a title; however, it was challenging due to the demands of the fans,” said Akonnor. Gor were already sure of the title after Leopards lost their penultimate fixture last weekend at APS Bomet.
Leopards also lost on Sunday at home to already relegated Bidco United in Nairobi. Defending champions Kenya Police FC finished in third place with 55 points, ending their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Homeboyz in Nairobi.
Sofapaka ended bottom of the standings on 19 points and were handed a 6-0 hiding at Kariobangi Sharks in the Kenyan capital on Sunday on their way down to the second tier.

ZIMBABWE
Defending champions Scottland beat CAPS United 2-0 on Sunday as the two clubs played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare in front of some 40,000 spectators in the first match at the country’s premium footballing venue in five years.
While the renovations are not yet fully complete, the re-opening represented an important milestone in seeing international matches return to Zimbabwe.
Veteran striker Knowledge Musona and Panashe Mutimbanyoka struck early in the game to ensure victory and a four-team tie at the head of the standings. Scottland moved into second spot with 28 points from 15 games but an inferior goal difference to leaders Hardrock, who have played one game less.
Hardrock had featured in a goalless draw on Saturday against Moors World of Sport in Harare.
Also on 28 points are Herentals and CAPS. Herentals were 1-0 away winners at Platinum in Zvishavane as Liyeto Dreamer snapped up an opportunity presented by a defensive blunder.
Sunday also saw AGAMA move themselves out of the relegation places with a 1-0 win in Gweru over TelOne, who are now in last position.

MOROCCO
AS FAR, who ended runners-up in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after last month’s final against Mamelodi Sundowns, were back in Botola Pro action on Saturday in the derby against FUS Rabat.
The Senegalese centre back Fallou Mendy proved the central figure, heading into his own net after 13 minutes at the Stade Moulay Abdellah but then netting the equaliser with another header, this time into the right goal in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
The military team missed the chance to take over at the head of the standings but are only one point behind leaders Raja Casablanca with nine rounds of the campaign to be completed.

LIBERIA
Watanga were crowned First Division champions last week, taking a second title in the club’s history and qualifying for next season’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions League under coach Theophilius Geekor.
They competed their triumph with a game to spare and received their new-look trophy to tumultuous applause in Monrovia despite the weather attempting to rain on their parade.
BEA Mountain finished second, four points adrift of Watanga, who were also champions in 2024.
