Another milestone as SFF opens the second development centre

The Somali Football Federation (SFF) has opened its second youth football development centre in the port city of Kismayo, marking another significant milestone within the matter of a week.
Kismayo, some 500 kilometres south of Mogadishu, is the capital of the Jubbaland State and a city well-known for its football. SFF Senior Vice-President Ahmed Takal inaugurated the launch of the new centre.
“The Somali Football Federation has decided to open development centres in all states. This is one of them after the first one was opened in Baidoa, South West State of Somalia,” Takal said, adding that such centres will contribute to the country’s football development.
“I am very excited that Kismayo is hosting the second development centre to be opened in the country. This region was once famous for football.
“Kismayo won the most trophies of Somalia’s regional football competitions. Now with the launch of this centre, I am very hopeful that the city will soon regain its status as a football powerhouse.”
The Minister for Youth and Sport in the state, Abdirashid Abdirahman Amir, and the Chairperson of the Jubbaland Football Association, Ahmed Abdullahi Ahmed, were among several dignitaries who witnessed the inauguration of centre, which will train players in the Under-9, Under-13 and Under-15 age groups.
Amir thanked the SFF for awarding such a development centre to the state.
“I would like to announce with a loud voice that Jubbaland State will fully join hands with Somali Football Federation in terms of football development,” he said.
