The much-anticipated CAF Awards officially take place on Monday, 11 December in Marrakech, Morocco.

The star-studded affair will see Africa’s best football talent gathered under one roof to celebrate African football excellence.

CAFOnline takes a look at the Coach of The Year in Women’s Football category nominees ahead of the big event.

Reynald Pedros (Morocco)

Reynald Pedros was the mastermind behind The Atlas Lionesses historic qualification to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Round of 16 qualification in their maiden appearance at the global showpiece.

It was in the same competition that Pedros masterminded a shock elimination of Germany to send shockwaves across the world.

He certainly earns his place in the list of three best women’s football coaches.

Desiree Ellis (South Africa)

Winner of the same award last year, Desiree Ellis has continued with her great work and achievement in South African women’s football.

After guiding Banyana Banyana to their second FIFA Women’s World Cup following their TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations first place finish, Ellis went a step further by guiding the South Africans to a historic round of 16 place where they narrowly fell short to Netherlands.

Jerry Tshabalala (South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns)

For the third time in a row, Jerry Tshabalala led Mamelodi Sundowns to the final of the CAF Champions League.

Tshabalala clinched the 2023 title without a single defeat or draw, winning all matches enroute to the title.

The Sundowns coach managed to win a treble this season with the CAF Women’s Champions League being preceded by a COSAFA Women’s Champions League title and quite recently, the domestic title.
