CAF Executive Committee (‘’EXCO’’) takes Important Decisions for the Development and Global Competitiveness of African Football

The CAF Executive Committee (“EXCO”) held a meeting today at which unanimous resolutions were passed and decisions which were taken by the CAF Leadership were also unanimously ratified.

The CAF General Secretary Mr Véron Mosengo-Omba briefed the CAF EXCO on the good progress that is being made in Côte d'Ivoire for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations ("AFCON”) Côte d'Ivoire 2023 which starts on 13 January 2024.

The meeting was also given an update on the excellent preparations and progress for the exciting Club football competition, the African Football League (“AFL”) which kicks off on 20 October 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “The CAF Executive Committee (“EXCO”) took important unanimous decisions which will make significant contributions to the sustainability, global competitiveness and attractiveness of football on the African Continent. We will be meeting again in Cairo on Wednesday 27 September 2023 to discuss and take decisions relating to the countries that will be awarded the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 and the AFCON 2027. CAF will also be hosting, in the next few weeks the first meeting of the African Club Association (‘’ACA’’) representing the most successful and biggest football Clubs in Africa. We want African football Clubs to be commercially viable and profitable. I will continue engaging with our current and future sponsors and partners to ensure that we build mutually beneficial, long-term relationships.”
