CAF Executive Committee takes note of CAS decision regarding Mr. Ahmad Ahmad

Yaoundé, Feb.06, 2021

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) met on Saturday February 6 in Yaoundé and took note of the decision taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on January 29, suspending the sanctions taken by the Adjudicatory Chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee against Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, President of CAF.

Regarding the eligibility check of candidatures for the Presidency and the Executive Committee, the following was decided:

•          The Executive Committee asks the Governance Commission to proceed, within seven days, to give a hearing to Seidou Mbombo Njoya and Mamadou Antonio Souare, whose candidatures needed further clarification.

•          The Executive Committee finds the decision of the Governance Committee communicated on February 05 inappropriate, and recalls that the eligibility check, for candidates for the position of CAF President, is exclusively the responsibility of the FIFA review Committee.
