CAF President hosts the Chairmen and senior representatives of the 60 most successful and biggest Football Clubs in Africa and announces formation of the African Clubs Association (“ACA”)

The President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe hosted a very successful meeting involving the Chairmen and senior representatives of the 60 most successful and biggest Football Clubs in Africa.

Dr Motsepe briefed the African Club Chairmen about the formation of the African Club Association (“ACA”) whose objectives includes to:

  • protect and promote the interest of African Football Clubs
  • ensure that African Football Clubs are commercially viable, globally competitive and profitable
  • ensure that Referees, Match Commissioners and VAR operators are respected, credible, independent and world-class
  • build partnerships with sponsors, the private sector and Governments to build stadiums that comply with CAF and FIFA standards and other football infrastructure and facilities in each of the 54 CAF Member Associations
  • develop African youth talent, academies for Boys and Girls and improve the quality of African Club football to be world class

The President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “CAF is deeply committed to working together with African Football Clubs, Governments, sponsors, businesses and CAF’s 54 Member Associations to ensure that Football Clubs in Africa are commercially viable, globally competitive and profitable.  We are also implementing interventions to make the quality of African Club Football appealing and attractive to football spectators and TV viewers in Africa and globally. The meeting with the Chairmen and senior representatives of the most successful and biggest Clubs in Africa was beneficial and very interactive as they made numerous important comments and suggestions to promote the interest of African Club Football. The formation of the African Clubs Association (‘’ACA’’) will significantly improve and increase the communication and cooperation between CAF and African Football Clubs. The future of African Clubs is bright.”

CAF will host an in-person meeting with the   Chairmen and Presidents of the most successful and biggest Football clubs in Africa during December this year where the African Club Association (“ACA”) will be launched.

The CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba and senior CAF staff were present in the meeting and are working on preparations for the launch of the African Clubs Association (“ACA”) in December this year.
