FIFA Arab Cup 2025™: African nations ready to make the continent shine

The much-anticipated draw for the FIFA Arab Cup, Qatar 2025™, was held this Sunday, 25 May in Doha, marking a pivotal moment for the 23 participating nations.

Bringing together 11 African teams and 11 Asian teams, plus the host country, this second edition of the tournament—scheduled from 1 - 18 December 2025 - promises to be a vibrant celebration of brotherhood, competition, and sporting excellence.

Qualifying Phase: high-stakes Inter-Confederation clashesAccording to the April FIFA Rankings, the 14 lowest-ranked teams will play a qualifying round on 25 and 26 November 25 in Qatar. These matches, organized based on rankings, will see ambitious African nations face their Asian counterparts in exciting match ups.

·       Match 1: Oman (AFC 1) vs Somalia (CAF 7)

·       Match 2: Bahrain (AFC 2) vs Djibouti (CAF 6)

·       Match 3: Syria (AFC 3) vs South Sudan (CAF 5)

·       Match 4: Palestine (AFC 4) vs Libya (CAF 4)

·       Match 5: Lebanon (AFC 5) vs Sudan (CAF 3)

·       Match 6: Kuwait (AFC 6) vs Mauritania (CAF 2)

·       Match 7: Yemen (AFC 7) vs Comoros (CAF 1)

 

A prestigious Group stage awaits the qualifiers

The seven winners of these clashes will join the top seeds already qualified, including the host nation Qatar and reigning champions Algeria. The draw also revealed the group compositions for the final stage:

·       Group A: Qatar, Tunisia, Winner Q1 (Syria or South Sudan), Winner Q4 (Palestine or Libya)

·       Group B: Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Winner Q3 (Oman or Somalia), Winner Q7 (Yemen or Comoros)

·       Group C: Egypt, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Winner Q6 (Kuwait or Mauritania)

·       Group D: Algeria, Iraq, Winner Q2 (Bahrain or Djibouti), Winner Q5 (Lebanon or Sudan)
