Former Guinea Bissau coach Candé joins Costa do Sol

Former Guinea Bissau coach Baciro Candé, who has taken charge of his country on each of their four TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations finals appearances, has signed as the new coach of Mozambican club Costa do Sol.
He has signed a one-year contract with the Maputo-based outfit.
“We all know that Mozambique was a powerhouse and we know that Mozambican football is professional and I embraced this project because I thought it was a viable, credible project that gave me confidence to be able to develop as a football coach,” he said at his signing ceremony in the Mozambican capital.
Candé, 57, was in charge as Djurtus debuted at the 2017 Cup of Nations finals in Gabon and then for the next three tournaments as Guinea Bissau became a regular feature at the tournament.
He spent eight years in charge of his country’s national side between 2016 and last year, leaving after the last Cup of Nations finals in Cote d’Ivoire.
Candé had also been Guinea Bissau coach between 2003 and 2008, as well as winning nine league titles in the West African country with Sporting Bissau, five of them in successive years. He also had a previous stint as coach of the national team, taking charge from 2003-2008 aged just 36.
