Libyan club Al-Nasr sign coach Ángel Gamondi

Libyan club Al-Nasr has officially signed Argentine coach Miguel Ángel Gamondi to take charge of the team, replacing Tunisian coach Chokri Khatoui, who was dismissed last month.
Al-Nasr announced in an official statement that Gamondi arrived in Benghazi, Libya, on Tuesday, February 4, to begin a new coaching adventure.
The club is placing high expectations on Gamondi’s leadership to guide the team back to stability and return to competing for domestic titles, as well as continental tournaments, which Al-Nasr has missed in recent years.
A Coach with Vast African Experience
Gamondi’s vast experience in coaching, particularly within African football, will be a key asset in his new mission.
The Argentine has a strong track record in African club football, having spent nearly two decades coaching top clubs across the continent. His previous stints include leading Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), CR Belouizdad (Algeria), USM Alger (Algeria), ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast), Hassania Agadir (Morocco), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Ittihad Tanger (Morocco), and Young Africans (Tanzania).
Gamondi is expected to quickly establish a solid tactical structure and find the right starting lineup to put Al-Nasr back on the right track.
Al-Nasr Strengthens Squad with Key Signings
During the winter transfer window, Al-Nasr made several key signings to bolster its squad.
Among them is Malian striker Cheikhna Samake, who joined from Moroccan club Olympique Safi, and Ghanaian forward Benjamin Boateng, who arrived from Egyptian club Al-Ittihad Alexandria.
Currently, Al-Nasr sits second in Group A of the Libyan Premier League, with 17 points. The club has ambitious goals of competing strongly for the league title under its new head coach.
With Gamondi’s proven experience and recent reinforcements, Al-Nasr hopes to reclaim its place among Libya’s football elite and make a strong impact in both domestic and continental competitions.
