Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital, witnessed a moment of unity through African football on Monday, 22 September when CAF alongside partners, TotalEnergies presented the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Trophy to the Rwandan public ahead of the highly anticipated finals later this year.

Africa’s most prized piece of silverware is currently on tour as part of CAF’s build-up to the continental showdown scheduled to take place in Morocco between 21 December 2025 – 18 January 2026.

Monday’s event follows CAF’s recent celebrations marking 100 days to kick-off, which ignited excitement across the continent and beyond as fans eagerly anticipate another grand spectacle of African football.

The event took place alongside the official launch of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, symbolically linking two major sporting milestones.

This stage of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Trophy Tour celebrated both the history and heritage of African sport.

TotalEnergies, a proud and official partner of CAF and of the UCI Road World Championships, brought the two events together by entrusting Rwanda Football Legends with the honour of hosting the ceremony.

The symbolic presentation was led by Mr. Jimmy Umulisa and Ms. Nibagwire Sifa Gloria, who were warmly applauded by passionate fans in attendance.

The ceremony also paid tribute to CAF Ambassadors present in Kigali. Among them were Tunisia’s 2004 TotalEnergies CAF AFCON champion Karim Haggui and Rwandan football icon Haruna Niyonzima.

They were joined by Ms. Alice Niyoyita, who will continue to accompany the Trophy as it makes its way through the next stops on the tour.

The celebration continues on Tuesday, 23 September, when the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Trophy will once again take centre stage at the Fan Zone of the UCI Road World Championships in Kigali. Fans will have the opportunity to engage with the Trophy in the company of Alice Niyoyita, Rwanda’s all-time leading scorer in women’s football, and Haruna Niyonzima, former international star.

This unique occasion offers football and cycling enthusiasts alike the chance to experience one of the most powerful symbols of African sport up close, marking another memorable chapter in the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Trophy Tour’s journey across Africa.
