TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON Morocco 2026 Qualifiers Draw to be held in Rabat on 07 January

The draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2026 Qualifiers will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday, 07 January 2026 as the road to Africa’s premier men’s futsal tournament begins.

A total of 17 national teams are engaged in the qualifying competition, which will be played over two home-and-away knockout rounds, with seven teams qualifying for the final tournament, in addition to the host nation and defending champions Morocco.

The draw will be streamed live on CAF TV from 13h00 local time (12h00 GMT).

Teams Involved

The teams taking part in the qualifiers are: Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Qualification Format

The qualifiers will be played in two rounds:

First Round: Six teams will compete, while 11 teams receive byes

Second Round: The three winners from the First Round will join the 11 exempted teams to contest places at the final tournament

All ties will be played over two legs, home and away, with aggregate scores determining the winners .

Ranking Criteria

The FIFA Futsal Men’s World Ranking has been used to determine team positions and exemptions for the draw .

First Round Draw

The six lowest-ranked teams, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Kenya, South Sudan, Zimbabwe and Namibia, will be placed into a single pot and drawn in pairs to form three fixtures.

The team drawn first in each pairing will host the first leg, with the return leg hosted by the second-drawn team. The three aggregate winners will progress to the Second Round .

Second Round Draw

Eleven teams are directly qualified for the Second Round: Algeria, Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Ghana, Guinea, Mauritania, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia, alongside the three First Round winners .

Based on the FIFA rankings, Egypt, Libya and Angola are the three highest-ranked teams and will be drawn to face the winners of the First Round. In these ties, the higher-ranked team will host the second leg .

The remaining teams will be drawn from two pots:

Pot 2 (Higher-ranked teams): Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, Zambia, Algeria

Pot 3 (Remaining teams): Ghana, Guinea, Mauritania, Tanzania

One team from Pot 3 will be drawn against one team from Pot 2 until all teams are paired, with the higher-ranked team hosting the second leg .

Qualification at stake

At the conclusion of the Second Round, the seven aggregate winners will qualify for the CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations 2026 Final Tournament, joining the host nation at the continental showpiece .
