Wydad cruise past Enyimba in AFL to set up Esperance semi-final

Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca coasted into the African Football League (AFL) semi-finals with a commanding 3-0 home win over Nigeria's Enyimba sealing a 4-0 aggregate victory.

First half goals from Ayoub El Amloud, Jamal Harkass and Yahya Attiyat Allah did the damage as Wydad breezed beyond the two-time African champions.

El Amloud prodded home the opener after just four minutes, bundling in Yahya Jabrane's knocked down cross after initially being flagged offside before a VAR review.

Harkass doubled Wydad's lead on 38 minutes, firing in the rebound after his initial header from Attiyat Allah's free-kick was saved.

Left-back Attiyat Allah then got on the scoresheet himself five minutes later, hammering home after being picked out by Hicham Boussefiane's cutback.

With a comprehensive 3-0 aggregate lead, Wydad eased off in the second period as coach Adel Rami took the chance to rotate his squad.

But the Red Castle had already done more than enough to book a semi-final showdown with Tunisian club Esperance in a mouth-watering North African contest.

After beginning their AFL journey in the quarter-final stage, three-time African champions Wydad are now just two aggregate wins away from being crowned the inaugural tournament's winners.

Wydad's complete performance highlighted their credentials, with the speed and quality of their attacking play too much for Enyimba to handle.

Few sides will relish facing Wydad with the trophy now tantalisingly within reach.
