Published:

In the frame of the 2020-21 Total CAF Confederation Cup – 2nd Preliminary Round, the first leg match between AS Kigali (Rwanda) and KCCA (Uganda) was scheduled on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Kigali.

KCCA travelled to Rwanda with 15 players. However, two (2) players of them were tested positive for COVID-19, leaving them with just 13 players for the game.

KCCA asked CAF for exceptional approval to be enabled to play with a 13-man squad.

As per the Emergency Committee decision regarding increase list of players and COVID-19 rule, dated 8 November 2020:

Should a team not be able to participate to a match, the result of the match will be determined according to the below criteria:

a. if a team does not have the minimum number of players (11 players including 1 goalkeeper + 4 substitutes) to play a match, the team will be considered to have lost the match 2- 0.

Hence, KCCA will automatically lose their 1st leg match against AS Kigali 2-0 for the lack of available players due to COVID-19 positive cases.
